FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • A: Permanent makeup, also known as cosmetic tattooing, is a technique where pigment is implanted into the skin to enhance features such as eyebrows, eyeliner, and lips. It creates natural-looking results that last for years, though periodic touch-ups are needed to maintain color.

  • A: Results typically last 1–3 years, depending on your skin type, lifestyle, and how well you follow aftercare. Brows may fade faster on oily skin, eyeliner usually lasts the longest, and lip blushing requires maintenance to stay fresh. Most clients come back every 1–2 years for a color boost.

  • A: Most clients describe the feeling as mild discomfort rather than pain. A topical anesthetic is used throughout the procedure to keep you comfortable. Pain tolerance varies, but most people find it very manageable.

  • A new appointment typically takes somewhere between 1.5 - 2 hours. That includes our consultation, the mapping, color mixing (custom for you!) and then the actual application. A touchup appointment typically takes 30 minutes to an hour at the most.

  • A: Permanent makeup is a two-step process. Your first session lays the foundation, and a touch-up session (6–12 weeks later) is needed to refine the color and shape. After that, maintenance sessions are recommended every 1–3 years.

  • A: The treated area will go through phases of darkening, flaking, and lightening before the color settles. Healing takes about 7–14 days on the surface, but the pigment takes up to 6 weeks to fully stabilize. Expect the color to fade by 30–50% during healing—that’s normal.

  • A deposit is required to reserve your appointment. This deposit is applied toward the total cost of your service and ensures that your time is secured on my schedule.

Please note that deposits are non-refundable. When you book, I set aside that time exclusively for you—preparing supplies, blocking off my calendar, and turning away other clients for that slot. If you cancel or don’t show, that time cannot be recovered.

Rescheduling with at least 48 hours’ notice will allow your deposit to transfer to a new appointment date. Cancellations or no-shows without proper notice will result in forfeiture of the deposit.

  • A: No makeup should be applied directly on the treated area until fully healed (about 10–14 days). You can still wear makeup on other areas of your face. Once healed, you’re free to apply makeup over the area if you want a bolder look.

  • A: Risks include infection, allergic reaction, or undesired results if aftercare is not followed. Choosing a licensed and trained artist (like me!) greatly minimizes these risks. You’ll also complete a medical questionnaire to ensure you’re a good candidate.

  • A: Pregnant or breastfeeding women, anyone on Accutane within the last year, people with uncontrolled diabetes, certain autoimmune conditions, or a history of keloid scarring should not undergo permanent makeup. A full list of contraindications will be reviewed before booking.

  • A: Avoid alcohol, caffeine, blood-thinning medications, tanning, and skincare acids/retinols before your appointment. Come with a clean face and no makeup on the treatment area. For lips, exfoliate and hydrate them in the days before your session.

  • A: My process involves careful mapping, color matching, and client approval before any pigment is placed. Permanent makeup heals softer and more natural than it looks on day one. Adjustments can always be made at the touch-up session.

  • A: Most clients can return to normal activities right away, but the treated area will look darker and bolder for the first few days. You’ll need to avoid heavy sweating, swimming, saunas, and sun exposure during the initial healing phase (about 10–14 days).

  • A: Tipping is never required, but it’s always appreciated. Permanent makeup is a specialized service that combines artistry with technical skill, similar to hairstyling or esthetics. Many clients choose to tip 15–20% as they would for other beauty services, but the most important thing is that you feel comfortable. A kind review or referral is just as valuable and always deeply appreciated!

  • A: There are almost always free parking spots on Jackson Ave. and Constance Street. There are also parking meters along Magazine St. that you would pay through an app and the cost is very reasonable.
